Hi my morning sucked
Here is an abridged version of my morning, in list form and starting with last night.
1:00 am - Get home from going out with friends. I realize it is getting late and I have an 8am meeting with a group including my manager, group, VP.
6:30 am - Alarm goes off, and I trudge over to my phone, grab it, reset the alarm to 7am and go back to sleep with the phone in my hand.
7:00 am - Alarm goes off again, this time I look at it. Eff.
7:10 am - Shower and morning ritual.
7:20 am - Get into my car and sing John Mayer on the road while flying down 237. I tell myself that getting up at this ungodly hour isn’t so bad after all, and maybe I should do it some more
7:45 am - Arrive at the office, with a few minutes to spare in order to collect my things to move to the other building where the meeting is being held at. I pat myself on the back for getting to work on time and even being a bit early for my meeting.
7:58 am - I am slightly lost, but it’s all good because I realize the buildings are listed by letters and it is in Building F. <- I pat myself on the back for my incredible deductive abilities.
8:01 am - I get into the room, only to find that it is crowded with people I do not know. I slowly realize that I am in the right meeting, but these are all at least 1st-line managers and up. I am a 3-week-old corporate lackey in this room. I check online and most of my coworkers have dialed in instead of actually going to the room. Eff.
8:25 am - The first presentation starts, and the group presenting at the moment is talking about how they can save the company money by shutting down the power in some labs. SAVING POWER. Is this not something we teach our 5-year-olds?
8:50 am - It becomes clear to me that I have wasted my time and woken up early for nothing. My boss is engrossed doing his own thing, and I really don’t care about anyone else there, so I slip out of the room only to forget that I am 6’2” and 215 lbs (slightly large).
8:50:02 am - I become the center of attention as I make my way to the door. Eff. At least I can flex?
9:10 am - I get back to my cube, only to have my coworker laughing at me that I actually went over to the room instead of calling in.
Currently - I am dialed in, half-listening to “strategies and definitions”, but really, just blogging. HA
