My Taiwanese dad coworker…
I have a coworker who is a classic Taiwanese dad:
1. Is more concerned with asking me questions about his daughter’s resume and college applications/admissions than seeing that I was on ESPN at the time he came over
2. Loves girls. LOVES them.
Every so often he’ll stop by and comment in a dad accent, “Man, today I saw this beautiful girl receptionist! I think she’s your age…” My other chinese dad coworker will hear and shout out “TOO OLD FOR HIM!” and they’ll argue about it. He also does this with girls he sees at the gym.
Anyway today we just had a discussion on what was better, UCLA or Berkeley. After the requisite topics like engineering and national recognition, he starts up on how there were these white girl recruiters from UCLA that were so hot.. the convo went like this:
“Richard, all UCLA girls are so beautiful huh! Some white ladies were there, and beauty plus quality! Seriously.. why are you laughing? It’s true… all of them were like Hollywood models yet you can tell they are also so smart… so smart.”
He tops it off with this gem: “They’re not like those pretty-on-the-outside girls like hookers…”
